OPAC Search

Searching of Library Books in the Rack or OPAC :

  • The books can be found in the Open Access.
  • Required books can be searched directly in the rack or by using OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) through key words such as, Title, Author, Accession number and Call Number etc.
  • After the search, users can pick the books from the rack/shelf and get it issued from the circulation desk or it can be referred in the library.
  • Books are arranged as per the DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification) classification system to locate the books easily.
  • The Ten Major Classes of the DDC are as follows;
    • 000 – Computer Science, Information and General works
    • 100 – Philosophy and Psychology
    • 200 – Religion
    • 300 – Social Sciences
    • 400 – Language
    • 500 – Science (Including Mathematics)
    • 600 – Technology and Applied Science
    • 700 – Arts and Recreation
    • 800 – Literature
    • 900 – History, Geography, and Biography
  • If a library user faces difficulty in locating books, despite using the OPAC and catalogues he/she may seek assistance from the library staff.

OPAC Search :

  • Visit to the library's official website.
  • Go to the OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) Search Page.
  • Input relevant information or key words related to the book you wish to find, such as the title, author, ISBN or any other keywords.
  • Submit the search by clicking the search button.
  • Examine the list of search results that match your query, each displaying details like the book's title, author, publication information, and availability status.
  • To access more comprehensive information about a specific book, click on its title or the associated link.
  • View the book's availability status to determine whether it is currently available or issued with other relevant information.
  • Note down the call number provided. This will facilitate locating the book on the library shelves.
  • Armed with the call number or location details, proceed to the designated area within the library to find the book and check it out.
